South East Water is committed to delivering improved and reliable sewerage services to our customers and community.
As part of this commitment, we are planning to undertake works in Bentleigh, Bentleigh East and McKinnon which will upgrade the capacity of the sewerage network and cater for the needs of the growing community.
The upgraded network will allow more effective management of sewage flows during extreme wet weather events and protect our environment in the unlikely event of a sewage spill.
The first part of this project will be complete by March 2012. New pipes have been installed under the eastern side of Tucker Road, between McKinnon Road and North Road.
The second part of this project will start in early/mid 2012. This includes installing a sewer pump station in Hodgson Reserve and Halley Park. New sewer mains will be installed along Gilmour Road, Castles Road, Jasper Road, Higgins Road and Bolinda Street which will feed into the existing sewerage network. Directional drilling, rather than open-cut, will be used where possible to minimise our impact on the community.
For more information about the new pump station please see the Sewage Pump Station factsheet.
These works are due to be completed by mid 2012.
