About Our Schools Education Program

South East Water has been delivering quality, authentic learning experiences for many years and has a dedicated team of educators supporting the program.

Pen Lynch, our Schools and Community Education Coordinator, is a secondary teacher with a strong background in environmental studies, while Water – Learn it! Live it! Education Officer Karen Borton has a strong environmental science background.

Pen and Karen are supported by our highly engaging education assistant Sally Fierenzi.

As we enter our fourteenth year of drought in Melbourne, the South East Water Education Team look forward to working with your school in 2010 on this very important issue.

Pedagogy

The South East Water education program provides authentic learning, using real and relevant examples, students’ prior experiences, needs, interests and concerns.  The educational experiences we provide aims to allow students’ to problem-solve from their direct experiences, while empowering them to take action and make attitudinal and behavioural changes to ensure a sustainable world for future generations

When thinking about current and future water issues and possible solutions, we hope students involved in our programs think more holistically about the ‘bigger picture’.  We also hope that they become ‘ambassadors’ within their families and local communities, setting a good example through their own attitudes and behaviour.
