What you can do to help
Significant volumes of water can be saved through responsible and efficient fire sprinkler testing. A number of solutions are available and can be tailored to your organisation’s needs:
- Monitor your water usage and determine how much water you use in fire sprinkler testing
- Adjustment of pressure relief valves – a pressure setting adjustment is a simple and effective method of reducing water at most pump-boosted installations
- Test Frequency – adopt the Australian Standard AS1851:2005 where possible by changing your fire sprinkler testing from weekly to monthly
- Re-circulate water used in the testing process – install a water tank, if space is available.
